QUETTA — October 26, 2026 — Domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) markets are poised for sustained price relief following the full resumption of energy supplies from Iran through critical border trade terminals, industry stakeholders confirmed on Monday.

Resumption of Cross-Border Logistics Ease Market Pressures

The restoration of overland energy transit follows recent clarifications from Iranian authorities refuting claims of trade restrictions. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam formally affirmed that bilateral trade corridors remain fully operational, ensuring continuous export flows of essential commodities, including LPG, to neighboring markets.

According to prominent LPG importer Shaukat Isa Zai, approximately 1,700 containers carrying vital fuel supplies crossed into Pakistan over the preceding 48 hours. Specifically, around 400 LPG containers cleared through the Taftan border crossing in Balochistan, while another 1,300 containers entered via the Gabd border terminal.

“LPG prices have already experienced a downward correction following the resumption of supplies from Iran, and wholesale and retail rates are expected to decline further if current logistical volumes are maintained,” Zai noted.

Strategic Significance Ahead of Winter Demand

The influx of cross-border fuel shipments has provided immediate stabilization to domestic markets, which previously faced speculative pricing pressures and supply concerns. Legislative figures have emphasized the vital timing of the supply normalization, particularly as colder weather patterns approach in remote and northern regions of Balochistan and upper Pakistan.

Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir welcomed the reopening and unhindered transit via the Gabd and Rimdan trade gateways, asserting that cost benefits must be directly passed down to consumers. Furthermore, parliamentary representatives have called upon customs and border administration authorities to expedite clearance procedures for fuel tankers while reinforcing regulatory surveillance to curb illegal hoarding and profiteering.
