ISLAMABAD — October 29, 2026 — Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi delivered a fiery speech in the Senate, strongly criticizing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and reacting sharply to recent statements made by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Rejection of Anti-State Rhetoric and Financial Allegations

Addressing the upper house of parliament, Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep disappointment over public statements directed at the state, emphasizing that political disagreements should never compromise national respect:

“I personally held deep respect for Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but when derogatory remarks are directed at the state itself, it leaves no room for reverence. Respecting the state is non-negotiable for any politician. For some, the state is treated like a mother only as long as financial benefits flow; when out of power, rhetoric against the state emerges. There will no longer be state patronage or jobs for such self-serving politics.”

Responding to immediate protests from JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza, the Interior Minister stated that accountability must be faced openly, accusing political elements of exploiting religion for personal and political gains.

Clarification on High-Level Iran Mission

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi firmly rejected claims made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding his recent official visit to Tehran, setting the record straight on diplomatic proceedings:

  • No Defense Pact Signed: Naqvi clarified that the delegation’s trip to Iran was not aimed at negotiating or finalizing any bilateral defense agreement.

  • Crisis Management Task: He stated that the visit was specifically assigned by the Prime Minister to handle ongoing regional and security crises. “I do not travel out of personal preference; I undertake diplomatic missions under direct instructions from the Prime Minister to resolve pressing national tasks,” he added.
