LAHORE — October 27, 2026 — A woman sustained multiple injuries in Lahore’s Johar Town locality after jumping off a fast-moving motorcycle to escape alleged harassment by a ride-hailing driver, police confirmed on Tuesday.

Incident Details and Escape Capture on CCTV

According to details gathered by Umeed News, the incident occurred when the victim booked a ride from Block F-2 in Johar Town heading toward Watto Palace. During the journey, the rider allegedly attempted to harass and behave inappropriately toward her.
To evade the advancing driver, the woman jumped off the speeding motorbike. CCTV surveillance footage retrieved from the site captured the moment she fell onto the road, sustaining severe trauma to her face, nose, throat, and head, while the suspect immediately fled the scene.
Following the incident, the victim’s brother formally lodged a complaint, leading local law enforcement to register a criminal case against the unidentified driver. Investigations are currently underway to trace and apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Rising Concerns Over Women’s Transport Safety

Information received by Umeed News highlights that this incident follows closely after another high-profile assault reported in Lahore’s Mozang area, where police recently arrested a man for ambushing, physically attacking, and injuring a female scooterist.
The alarming spike in harassment cases has prompted provincial authorities to enforce stricter safety directives for public transport and online rides. The Punjab government recently deployed QR-code-based panic buttons across thousands of commercial vehicles and mandated real-time GPS tracking systems to enhance emergency response capabilities for women commuters.
